Creative Exposure Camp!

Summer 2017 Program

This camp is all about fun and creativity! Youth will have opportunities for self-discovery and creative learning will be abundant in a safe, inclusive space and outside. They’ll be exposed to various art forms including theatre, film and photography, collage, paint, music and more! No prior experience in the creative arts is necessary, simply an open and creative mind.

Morning: Learn the art of improvisation, characterization, scenerization, and fun sensation! Quinn MacIsaac will be facilitating a workshop on Improvisational Theatre.

Afternoon: We like to think that creativity is best explored through a variety of mediums! The art of collage gives us the opportunity to bring together a number of mediums and materials to create artwork, Rhonda Barrett will be running our collage session!

Morning: We will be exploring the creativity that’s happening around us by heading out and exploring downtown Dartmouth!

Afternoon: The afternoon will be spent working on our Creative Ventures – individualised projects that allow youth to channel their creativity into a medium of art pertaining to their interests.

Morning: We will start off the morning with a yoga session from Carol Anne Cox and then a morning of exploring Lake Banook on canoes, led by Nora Featherstone from Mic Mac Amateur Aquatica Club!

Afternoon: Brillant Labs Makerspace activities will introduce campers to hands-on demonstrations with robotics, wearable technology, micro-controllers, 3D printing, crafting, and more!

We will be heading over to Halifax in order to get a behind the scenes look at some professional creative industries! Our day will begin with a guided tour of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. From there we will head to the commons for a picnic lunch! The afternoon will be filled with a tour and behind-the-scenes look of Viewpoint Gallery

Morning: Guitar Facilitator Brandon Mooney will be leading us as we build diddley-bows! A wonderful instrument that can be fun and useful all musical skill levels.

Afternoon: Sitting together we will come up with an art piece that helps to represent the time we spent together during Creative Exposure. Everyone will help contribute to this collaborative art piece and it will live in the MacPhee Centre! Then, there will be time to present our Creative Ventures to the group!
