About Me

I am Ojibway First Nations, however it is an aspect of myself that I feel disconnected with.  I feel the influence of my heritage in my art. Through my paintings I have begun to explore my Indigenous heritage, but I have approached it with a sense of ambiguity.  In a general sense, the content of my work is focused on experimentation with portraits and figures.  Conceptually my paintings are my attempt of addressing my own Ojibway heritage whether it be directly or indirectly.  I simply want to project my heritage in a way that becomes nondescript and ambiguous, this is my attempt to depart from the constraints of both authenticity and tradition that is associated with indigenous art.
