Lux Habrich

About Me

Lux Habrich is an interdisciplinary visual artist, arts facilitator and support worker originally from Tiohtiá:ke / Montreal (QC). Having moved to Atlantic Canada in 2012 to complete a BFA Interdisciplinary at NSCAD University, she found herself drawn to the narrative potential in craftwork as a means of accessing ancestral knowledge. Her current studio practice focuses on creating cross-disciplinary art objects that employ tactile ceramic and textile processes, that center on her immigrant legacy, intimate struggles with psychological despair, and the complexities of subversive, queer, feminine identity. Inspired by her mixed racial and cultural identity, Lux believes that externalizing intense internal grievances, can open up collective issues and qualities of larger community struggle to grant moments of healing and empowerment.
