We're curious about you too!

As a community that empowers youth to access their individual creativity and a path to success, we see anywhere between 15-30 youth participants on a daily basis from all areas around the HRM. Youth typically come to the MacPhee Centre not only if they are looking for free, creative or musical programming – but also if they are looking for a space to make friends, have a bite to eat, and be themselves.

As a community hub, we not only provide a variety of programming during the fall and winter, but we also host workshops, meetings, and even art shows from time to time!

If you or someone you know would like to stop by to visit the space, feel free to fill out the form below and we will get back to you as soon as possible! If you would like to arrange a visit or ask questions over the phone, give us a call at 902-469-2851.

Why might youth come to the MacPhee Centre in the first place?

Youth come to the MacPhee Centre for a variety of reasons. Sometimes we see youth because they are feeling disengaged from traditional education, looking for a space to make friends, have something to eat, or have access to free, creative programming. We also have youth who are experiencing a wide variety of mental health concerns and are looking for a supportive social environment where they can be themselves.

If I come for a tour, do I have to register for programs immediately?

Of course not! After the tour, the decision is in your hands! Whether you want to register for programs immediately, or attend a program as a drop-in to see if this is the space is for you – it is totally up to you.

Often youth will tour the space and take some time to decide how they want to be involved at the MacPhee Centre – and that is perfectly fine. We’ll be waiting for you when you are ready.

I am a caring adult and have a youth in mind, can I stop by without them?

Absolutely. We understand that sometimes a youth is not yet comfortable to check out the space and that you are coming on their behalf. One of the staff would still love to show you around and tell you more about the MacPhee Centre. As a youth-led organization, we definitely understand giving a youth the power to choose when and if they want to visit us!

What do youth say about the MacPhee Centre?
