Completely free! By offering free creative and musical programming, we hope to eliminate some of the barriers individuals might be facing in accessing the creative arts.

How do I refer a youth?
To refer a youth, you have a few different options. You can give us a call at 902-469-2851 or send us an email at email@example.com.
You can also fill out the referral form here and one of the staff at the MacPhee Centre will get back to you for when you can stop by for a visit! In the chance you want to come by and the youth is not yet ready to join you, as a caring adult you are more than welcome to stop by to learn more about us.
What do youth say about the MacPhee Centre?
Recently, we asked our youth, “Why do you keep coming back to the MacPhee Centre?”, and here were some of their answers:
“It is a safe space and I have so many supportive friends”
“It is one of the only places that continues to keep me happy”
“I have learned a lot about myself and have had so many amazing opportunities”
“I like the space, and there is always something to eat”
“I feel like I belong and I am important”
“It is a fun/cool/chill space and there are lots of things to learn”
“I can express myself creatively”
Where is the MacPhee Centre?
The Centre is situated in the fully renovated historic Union Protection building at 50 Queen Street in downtown Dartmouth.
If you plan on stopping by for a visit, remember to bring change to pay for the street parking, or drive around to see if there is free parking on the residential streets.
We are also a 5 minute walk from the Alderney Ferry Terminal and a 15 minute walk from the Bridge Terminal.
Is there a connection to schools?
Yes! The MacPhee Centre requires participants to maintain attendance and be in good standing at a local junior high or high school. Currently, almost one in six Halifax teens won’s finish high school. Many youths in Halifax are failing to fulfill their potential even before they reach adulthood. By investing in the future of our youth we can provide a sense of direction to those in need of it and build a better community as a result.
The MacPhee Centre collaborates closely with schools, youth organizations, and arts educators. Memorandums of Understanding are in place with the Halifax Regional School Board and the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and also works closely with the Nova Scotia Community College.
