Writing
Writing programs are about more than crafting stories. They are opportunities to use your thoughts, experience, and voice to create vibrant and honest pieces that can be kept for your eyes, or performed at an event through spoken word. Whether it is fiction, nonfiction, poetry, comic writing, sci-fi and more – however you like to write, we would love to see it.

Creative Writing
An opportunity to work with local published authors in building your technical skills as a young author. Explore a variety of genres and writing warm-up prompts as you weave your own story or poem together into something that has never been said.
Journalism 101
Do you want to be a reporter or editor? This course will teach you the basics of journalism. Learn how to find story ideas, research, interview sources, write, edit and more. And your stories just might be published in a local paper!
Poetry
An opportunity to focus in on your skills as a poet. Work with the facilitator on different prompts, thoughts, and activities on a weekly basis to better understand yourself and the world around you as a storyteller.
Spoken Word
This program starts with the origins of spoken word and HipHop culture recognition, to writing, to performing and sharing art. It is based around the idea that art is a protective factor for youth mental well-being and can be helpful during stressful times.
These Words Have Wings
Spend some time in a creative writing class for aspiring writers and storytellers. Work to find, refine, and share your own stories, opinions and observations of the world through poetry, essays and personal narratives.
