Position Summary
The Programs Manager is critical in ensuring world-class art programming at MacPhee Centre. This role is responsible for managing program planning, delivery, and evaluation. In performing this role, you must have experience in supporting youth. You are also knowledgeable of a wide range of program development and community building best practices. You must also be able to evaluate issues and relate effortlessly to all stakeholders, including youth, school staff, parents, and community program partners. Ideally, you understand our community's current economic and social climate and recognize the issues that impact the growth and well-being of its youth and families.
The ideal candidate must be committed to MacPhee Centre’s mandate, proactive, have a high degree of initiative, and have excellent follow-through. They must also be highly organized, have demonstrated management capacity, and have a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities
Program Management (55%)
- Provide overall management of programs, including planning, development, registration, execution, and evaluation.
- Oversee program activities and growth per the organization’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan.
- Listen and provide support for youth participants.
- Coordinate educational engagement opportunities for youth.
- Facilitate workshops, promoting leadership and guiding students to pursue their passions and purpose.
- Implement and monitor appropriate key performance indicators for MacPhee Centre’s Programs to ensure goals and objectives are achieved.
- Compile statistics to validate program delivery, including impact reports and feedback from students, volunteers, and facilitators.
- Maintain a content management system database for all youth and youth-related contacts.
- Alongside youth, co-create and coordinate events to engage youth while providing a safe environment for them to be themselves.
- Promote programming to youth through schools and community engagement.
- Prepare program related communications and promotion material.
- Ensure quality and impactful program curriculum, facilitators and experience for all youth, families, and partners.
- Hire and support Artist Facilitators based on portfolio that reflects the needs of the youth, with attention to diverse skillsets and representation.
- Recruit, hire, train and manage Artist Facilitators following the MacPhee Centre volunteer screening protocol; ensure accurate and timely timesheets are submitted.
- Schedule facilitators based on portfolio that reflects the needs of the youth/community, with attention to diverse, culturally appropriate facilitators in community settings.
Community Engagement (25%)
- Initiate, support and nourish relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Provide youth and families with support connecting to and navigating systems and services in the community through an affirming lens.
- Attend community events and meetings on behalf of MacPhee Centre.
- Encourage and support community collaboration with like-minded organizations and groups for youth development and engagement.
- Provide stories, photos, and quotes from youth for use in various collateral materials, including grant applications and reports.
- Plan and hold community celebrations (for programming, facilitators, and volunteers).
- Provide volunteer support, as directed by the Admin and Marketing Manager.
General Administration (20%)
- Coordinate kitchen and program snacks with the Program Manager.
- Maintain facilities where programs occur to ensure tidiness and readiness.
- Prepare and manage program budgets and cost analysis.
- Organize program materials and track inventory.
- Other duties as seen fit by the Programs Director or Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate success in preparing, delivering and evaluating programs for youth (including but not limited to summer camps, workshops and evening programming).
- Post-secondary education or equivalent life experience with an emphasis on education, youth work, community engagement, social work, recreation or project management.
- Understanding of fine arts or a personal creative practice.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and harm reduction principles.
- Experience building healthy relationships with youth and the community.
- Experience working for a non-profit or community organization.
- Ability to adapt to a changing situation, solve problems and think creatively.
- A self-starter with a high level of motivation and an ability to thrive with minimal supervision.
- High level of communication skills; able to relate professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
- Capacity to work a variety of hours, such as evenings and weekends.
- High level of computer literacy.
- A driver's license and access to a vehicle are considered assets.
