Bintou Kaira practices as an Engineer-in-Training in the surface operations of a potash mining company. She is skilled in process improvements and modelling, troubleshooting, data analysis to drive decisions, and change management principles. Concurrently, Bintou is the co-founder of GAPhealth, where she uses process optimization, people, and project management skills to create a successful business on the use of mobile-based applications for chronic disease management in Africa. She strongly believes in the power of education, and therefore serves as an advocate to create educational opportunities for students interested in engineering, science, and mathematics.
When feeling particularly creative, she enjoys listening to her Dad, taking in a few TED Talks, speeches, or documentaries and often follows up these learning opportunities with reflection and journaling leading to action. Bintou’s learned that one of the most important lessons in life is to have values that can guide her to do the right thing, even if it feels lonely or difficult.
