A Major Milestone for 50 Queen Street
This week marked a major milestone for us at MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning — the transfer of 50 Queen Street from the original leaseholders who also happen to be some of our founders, Nancy Smithers, David Graham, Rick Emberley and Al MacPhee.
We will always remember the spirit of generosity that made this donation possible and pledge to honour it by continuing to make this building a place of creativity, purpose, warmth, safety, inclusivity, and transformation. A place where everyone—especially the youth—can thrive.
Many thanks to our community of champions who joined us in this celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to remember where this now 15-year-old charity has come from and the many people who have supported us along the way.
We also got to award scholarships to youth in our programs going to post-secondary. These included the Jack Fisher Memorial Award which honors the life of Jack Fisher son of our former board member, Victor Fisher; the Karn Nichols Passion and Purpose Award which honors Karn Nichols (She/Her)‘s service to the Centre and the Don Pether Award generously donated by Emera in honor of Don Pether’s leadership.
