Program Partnership Galor!
We are thrilled this term to partner with so many wonderful organizations to help deliver creative programming to even more youth!
Page 1 Theatre
You may have seen the CBC article about our work with Page 1 Theatre to offer bi-weekly FREE improv programs to youth ages 12-19, which will culminate in a performance at OutFest!
This program is off to a fantastic start this term. We’re seeing plenty of youth excited to learn about improv, so much so that although the program is every other week, youth are showing up on the off weeks to practice outside of the specific program time.
Unity Charity:
This term, we’re continuing our partnership with Unity Charity to deliver two fantastic hybrid programs: Street Dancing and Beat Making!
The focus of the youth in the program is awesome. They are very excited to learn how to make their own beats and sound mixes. As part of this program, youth have been given free internet access for one year and a device to help them make beats.
Boat School:
The youth in this program are focusing on two different projects that help them develop their carpentry and sewing skills.
In the first half of the program, youth developed their carpentry skills and learned how to use different pieces of equipment (like handsaws and levels) to build stools for the Boat School maker space. The youth in the program proudly showed off their stools to their parents/caregivers this week and are coming up with names for their stools (which they will paint onto the bottom of the stools)
For the rest of the term, they will focus on working with sails to create and sew ditty bags.
