What MacPhee means to Jolee

At the MacPhee Centre, we believe creativity has the power to transform lives. Every donation you make helps us create a space where young people are not only able to explore their creative potential but also build the confidence to believe in themselves and their futures.

1. What inspired you to start volunteering at the MacPhee Centre?

I was drawn to MacPhee because I’ve seen firsthand how the arts can create a safe space for young people to express themselves and build confidence. I wanted to be a part of that nurturing environment and offer my support in any way I could.

2. How does it feel to contribute to a space where youth can grow creatively and personally?

It feels incredibly rewarding. Every time I’m here, I see youth connecting, exploring new ideas, and developing their skills. It’s a privilege to play even a small role in helping them feel welcome and supported.

3. What would you say to someone who is thinking about donating to the MacPhee Centre? How do you feel each gift makes an impact?

I would tell them that their donation is more than just a financial gift – it’s an investment in the growth and well-being of the youth in our community. Every dollar helps create a space where young people can learn, create, and find their voice.

4. What’s one thing you wish more people knew about the MacPhee Centre and its programs?

I wish more people knew how much the MacPhee Centre does to foster a sense of belonging. It’s not just about the creative programs; it’s about the supportive, inclusive community that makes every young person feel valued and accepted.

5. Why do you believe a creative, nurturing environment like the MacPhee Centre is essential for youth in our community?

Creativity offers a unique way for youth to process their experiences and explore their identities. I know that I would have benefited from a space like MacPhee when I was a youth. Having a nurturing environment gives them the freedom to do that in a safe space. In a world that can be tough to navigate, places like this are so important for helping young people build resilience and self-esteem.
